Short version: your meals live on your device, we don’t sell anything, and there are no third-party trackers.
The one-line summary: SayChow keeps your food log on your iPhone. To turn what you say into nutrition numbers, the meal text is sent to our processing service — and nothing more than it needs to be.
What stays on your device
- Speech recognition. Turning your voice into text happens on-device using Apple’s speech framework. Your raw audio is not uploaded to us.
- Your food log. Logged meals, macros, goals and your logging streak are stored locally on your iPhone (in the app’s on-device database). We don’t keep a copy on a server, and there’s no account to create.
What we process to make the app work
- Meal text. The text of what you said (e.g. “a chicken caesar wrap”) is sent to our nutrition service to identify the foods and estimate calories and macros. It is used to answer that request and is not tied to your identity.
- Barcodes. When you scan a package, the barcode is looked up against the public Open Food Facts database to fetch the label’s nutrition.
- Optional feedback. If you send feedback from Settings, your message — plus basic context like app version, device model and OS version — is sent to our feedback service so we can act on it. An email is included only if you choose to add one.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your data.
- We don’t embed advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
- We don’t require an account, your contacts, or your location.
Purchases
SayChow Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Payments, renewals and receipts are handled by Apple — we never see your card details. Subscription state is verified on-device through Apple’s StoreKit.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. We don’t send remote push notifications.
Children
SayChow isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect their data.
Your choices
- Clear your entire food log anytime from Settings → Your data → Clear all logged meals.
- Deleting the app removes the on-device food log from your iPhone.
- Revoke microphone, speech or camera access anytime in iOS Settings.
